Neil Young and Crazy Horse
Amazing songs written by Neil and when the Horse back him up, songs fall into this really cool groove that is just addicting.
Listen to Cinnamon Girl or Down by the River or Cowgirl in the Sand. Listen to anything on the Ragged Glory CD.
Amazing.
But don't take my word for it -- listen to Pearl Jam or Nirvana or REM or Jet ot the Black Crowes or Oasis or any number of others who cite Neil and Crazy Horse as their most significant influence.

nirvana are the best band of all time, this is because they killed hair metal, brought a completely raw style of music and they brought Kurt Cobain who is a huge icon worldwide. Great melody maker and great lyricist in his own right. I think they where the last great band i can remember. I mean there is good bands around but no greats since Nirvana. Nirvana topped of an era of music and it will always be remembered unlike the times now, where 50 cent will never be remembered. Nirvana will live forever. great question.

Tool is the greatest band to me, they are goin on tour and the show is going to be awesome..their last show was awesome, all of their albums are awesome, and Maynard Keenan is a genious.
