By "roger" I mean when military personel want to acknoledge something they say "roger'

I don't know why they used 'R,' though.
Probably had a different meaning for each letter.

It goes back to the days of early radio, it is the same as saying "over" when using walkie talkies.
Roger means you heard the message, Roger Wilco, means you heard the message and will comply, with it.
Roger simply means, OK.
