Yes, it's from the standard keyboard. Back when keyboards were on typewriters with the little arms that each had one letter, they had to separate the most-used keys from each other because they would all strike at the same time and get stuck. Then they changed the typewriter letters to a ball setup with the letters all around it, but never changed the keyboard because everybody was used to the way the keys were. And the idea of slowing down typing didn't work--even with the setup to put useful keys in tricky positions, people still type pretty fast.

It is the arrangement of the keys on the "home row" of a typewriter....

the key placement placed the most common keys in places to allow for the fastest possible typing without the keys jamming...

with modern electronics this speed arrangement is no longer needed and Dvorick came up with a better one... but since QWERTY was already in use, the Dvorick Keyboard has not caught on very well.

yes and you should never ever use it as a password. welcome, guest and anonymous are also pretty bad but people pick them because they are right in front of their eyes as they log on so they don't need to use their memory. But crackers know this trick also so those are in the first few tries at cracking a password. Oh! And qwerty are the top left row of letters left hand.It only sounds like a word
