I am 4 months pregnant with my first baby.
The pain does not really hurt, it is more of a discomfort that comes and goes..

Congratulations on your pregnancy! It's absolutely normal. I was the exact same way when I was 4 months pregnant :)

I'm going to include an article from a book of mine that I think you might find helpful.

""I'm very worried about the pains I've been getting on the lower sides of my abdomen.

What you are probably feeling is the pregnancy equivalent of growing pains; the stretching of muscles and ligaments supporting the enlarging uterus. Most pregnant women experience these pains, which may be crampy or sharp and stabbing, and often are most noticeable when you are getting up from a bed of chair, or when yu cough. The pain may be brief, or may last for several hours. As long as it is occasional and not persistent - andis not accompanied by fever, chills, bleeding, increase vaginal discharge, faintness, or other unusual symptoms - there's no cause for concern. Getting off your feet and resting in a comfortable position should bring some relief. You should, of course, mention the pain to your practitioner at your next visit, so that he or she can reassure you that this is just another normal, if annoying, part of pregnancy."

I'm also going to include the link to a pregnancy forum that I think you might find handy. It's full of supportive women with boundless knowledge about these issues. I learnt so much there that I doubt I would have learnt otherwise.

So long as it's not too painful and there is no bleeding it should be ok. I get cramps sometimes that are like the cramps that I get when I'm on my period and I'm about 4 months prego. I was told that that was perfectly normal and to expect it.

Mild and occassional cramping is perfectly normal in pregnancy. It might happen occassionally when your utuerus is going through some regular growth and stretching.

I'm in my third pregnancy now, and I have experienced "once in a while" cramping with all of them.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Yes, it's normal. It's your uterus and all the muscles and ligaments down there stretching to accommodate your growing baby. Perfectly normal.

what is causing your cramping are you eating too much? On your next appointment you would definitely want to tell your ob. I don't know if it's too early to experience the Braxton-Hicks contractions
