I know someone is evading tax illegally. He claims some children of a single mother as his children and paid some money to that woman to shut her mouth up. Is there a way to report this?

Sure. And you might get a reward (there is a provision in the IRS code allowing for payment of tax actually collected as a result of a tip for a fraudulent return).

BUT WAIT. If he is (or can claim that he is) the actual father, the single mother is legally allowed to assign the children to him as deductions (but then she cannot take them). This would be risky for him, of course, as either the single mother (or the state, if it is providing assistance), can go after him for both current and back child support --- likely far more than he is paying the single mother.

Yes. You contact the Internal Revenue Service. It's in the telephone book. If it takes too long for them to answer your call, go on line on your computer to Internal Revenue Service and you will find what to do.

By the way, you might end up with some money. IRS has a Reward program.

Report them to the IRS. BTW 'illegally evading' is redundant. Evading taxes is defined as illegally avoiding taxes.

You use the word "illegally". Do you understand this term? You want to judge another citizen. Careful you don't make a mistake. You are dealing with serious issues that may fly back in your face. The IRS couldn't care less about you. Maybe they might mistakenly give your name to the person you want to dob in. Are you ready to face the person you are accusing or do you think you can just be sneaky about it?

If you are like the UK.. you will spend more tax payers money on taking this guy to court and imprisoning him. If he is poor.. let him alone.. if he is buying big tv's etc.well someone else will take it into their hands.. judge not.. also ask yourself.. have you ever done anything wrong to get some money because you had to or were desperate enough, if the lady in question took the money.. i bet she bought something for her kids outa it.. life is hard for some.

If you have to ask ...... don't do it.

Sure, call the IRS. A tax audit should clear things up.
