In freshman year, our IB (a learning community) told us students to take as many honors and AP courses as we could next (sophomore) year. I really haven't a clue- I couldn't take any of the classes I wanted to due to scheduling. I've been worrying about falling out of the running for class rank- should I?

In most cases, everything from 9th through 12th grade is counted. Generally class rank is based on overall grade point average. AP and honors courses are what many colleges look for. If you pass the AP exam, you get college credit.

Our school counted our overall weighted GPA for ranking. If it didn't, then I would not have been valedictorian. You should try to take advanced classes, but it doesn't matter what year you take them. Why don't you ask the school registrar for your transcript or ask your counselor for advice?

some could. In My extreme college, shall we take particular training as progressed Placement (AP) classes. those ought to count variety in the direction of college credit, yet purely on the main straight forward and minimum point. which includes if I had taken AP chemistry, and handed the examination on the tip of the year, i ought to be exempt from taking the 1st quarter of chemistry in college and get some quarter units for it. yet keep in mind it purely exempts me from the 1st actual chemistry direction in an entire series of classes in a considerable. in the long-term it does little as there ought to be 20 classes in the main.

I don't know about your school but my school only counted senior year. They did tell us where we were all the other years but it was only to campare us.
