These are the true cowards of the world....they hide behind a computer. These are the ones who would never do it to someones face. They are probably the ones who get picked on!

The internet is impersonal i.e. you do not have to look a person in the eyes while speaking, see the person's reactions to your statement, etc. Apathy is a big problem nowadays, as well as a lack of morals, ethics, and consideration of consequences. Have you ever had a disagreement over the telephone that excelerated into an all out screaming match? With the influences of television and lack of role models (think Desperate Housewives, The Simple Life, etc) and honest work looked down upon as something for simpletons and those not educated enough to do otherwise, I simply refrain from watching TV and otherwise contributing to the downward spiral.

Yes, so many people are mean to others but I don't agree it's especially on the internet, it is everywhere. I think it is a common misconception that being mean "gets you somewhere." Of course there are also many kind and wise people that know this is not true but it continues to be a common misconception.
Myself, I was brought up by two very mean parents. I chose, early on in life not to be that kind of a person. I have found that some who thrive on being bullies, are especially mean to me if I exhibit extremely kind behavior. Some how they see that as a sign of a weak person instead of reallzing the wisdom and courage involved in it. So instead, I have a public stance of displaying strength. Those who I know deserve my kindness will know it but in general I think it is necessary to maintain a strength to keep the mean bullies at bay.
And remember that what goes around comes around. I try not to seek revenge but cannot help but chuckle when I see a bully getting their fair due. In fact, I just noticed it today! And it was a particularly wonderful day for me as far as actualizing my dreams. And at the same time, I see the bullies are not getting away with it after all!!! :)
So think of it as a positve experience when you meet a bully. Think of it as a challenge for you to learn skills necessary for you to stand your own strength and not take any of from them....don't let them steal your sunshine..really, if you think of it, they cannot do it without your permission...check out hayhouseradio.com for interesting ideas on this and many other areas.

On the internet, you can't see faces. If you get in a situation with someone, you can turn tail and run, and never have to speak to them again. The internet is a great shield for cowards to hide behind. A lot of people who abuse and persecute people online would never do so in real life, because they're cowards. I must admit I've taken advantage of this shield more than once.

Probably they 4get that there r some real real ppl with genuine feelings behind the avitars who need genuine advice. Also the anonimity gives them a smoke screen to hide behind in order to be flippant, critical and sometimes unsympathetic of some ppl . Mind u there are some plonkers who ask provocative/nonsense stuff just to be annoying. I have had many a laugh at some of it also; to be fair there are some comedians on here too..

Because they can,
but someone reminded me recently everyone on the internet is young and beautifull and slim and happy.

I think those people that are really mean are so insecure in some way that they have to put it on other people to make themselves feel better, they get their just deserts in the end.

Those individuals were probably treated in
a mean manner themselves, and the only way to vent would probably be do it to those that can't physically and verbally hurt them. They were probably bullied by others in high school or it could be just a method of releasing stress

Just regard certain elements of the audience as akin to 'playground children' who do not have the maturity, elegance or dowright intelligence other than to open their mouths and be destructive. Equally, if others recognise this, then the insults or whatever should simply roll over their head ... it does mine. You simply have to teach yourself to do it. IN a case like this, the word "arseole" springs to mind ........... covers a multitude of sins that one! Keep happy ....
