How do you flip a layer in Photoshop?

I want to make a mirror image/reflection of an image. I copy the layer, and try to flip vertically. I can flip the image but not the layer by itself, so I end up having to make the layer its own image, flip it, and the move it back into my original image...

There has to be an easier way.

I already asked this question at

but I got no "useful" answers. Please help.

This is pretty much a 10 point giveaway at this point.

Flip the layer using Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal (or Flip Vertical). That will apply it only to your selection or to the layer that you're currently on. Hope that helps!

The easiest way may be to copy the layer then create a new file with just that image by pasting it. Then rotate that new sepate image. Flip it, copy it, then paste it back into the other file as a new layer.
