Congratulations - now you are a woman. But in spite of that, it's sometimes very unpleasant. You may have cramps (ugh) or get moody and cry for no real reason. That's normal, so don't think you're going nuts if you cry over something really unimportant.

Silly tip - wear all-black underpants and dark jeans when you have your period, and there will be no problem with washing out those horrid bloodstains! No matter how careful I was, I was always ruining underpants until I bought some all-black ones. End of problem. And white/pastel jeans can really embarrass you if you have a small leak, whereas it won't be obvious if the color is dark anyway.

If you have really bad cramps, ask your mother to take you to a doctor. There are things that can help.

Look at all your favorite female entertainers, teachers, etc - hey, they all have periods, too, and they keep going anyway - so can you.

For the first 5-7 years of your period, you should always wear pads. But after that tampons come in handy for swimming and such.

You can take baths while on your period. Just don't stay in longer than 45 minutes, your vagina may get clogged.

Have a happy period!

Don't be nervous because mostly every girl you see walk past you goes through it, and it is totally normal! I don't use tampons and I cried when i tried and I hurt really bad because tampons are just not made for some people. Pads are the best way to go pain free but if you go swimming pray to god it is very very light to were you can wear water based tiny pantyliners. or if it is heavy wear a tampon. but u must change a tampon every 8 hours, and ifyou don't you can get a lethal infection or toxic shock.

Wait till your much older to use Tampons, the younger you are the more at risk you become to toxic shock syndrome...take time to get plenty of rest and don't stress yourself over it, It will take about a year before your period will regulate so some months you may not get it at all, don't panic that's normal.

Pads are sometimes a good thing-because i know when i used tampons my period was so heavy i still had to wear a panty liner or pad so it didnt make any sense using a tampon.....tampons can cause yeast infections because alot of girls dont change them alot...just make sure u do....and trust me EVERY girl has gotten blood on there pants or panties....but once u get the hang of it, its NOTHINGG

Congrats! But on a serious note the best pads to wear are the Kotex with wings , they help stop leaks! Always with wings are great also try the extra long with wings to help prevent leaks.
