No! The media is attracted to negativism and controversy. Anything that will bring people down, and cause discontent. Even without war, what good does the news ever report? Nothing, thats what.

War is reality, and will exist whether reported or not. But the media reports it in totally negative terms (when the USA or Israel fights, that is. Other countries are mostly ignored). When the USSR fought the muslims several years ago, the war was not covered much in the media. There are other wars going on right now in the world, but you never hear about them much. Its only when the USA or Israel thats involved that the media goes nuts.

The media, throughout history has a duality of both being the voice of the people and the instrument of policy. Napoleon recognized early it's potential power.

H.L. Mencken was humbled at one point by those in power for excercising too much invective, if I recall correctly.

This should all be tempered by the fact all things in an imperfect world are to be viewed with a measure of common sense and healthy discernment.

If a journalist, be aware you bear a huge responsibility morally not only to yourself but those you impact at large with what you do.

If it's the conscientious citizen, scrutinize carefully and render a personal verdict. Don't just accept it. Hope this helps.

This war is a good thing and it's the MEDIA that's made it out to be bad! Not anything else!
War actually is never a good or pleasant thing, but is necessary and I'm one of those few true American's that backs up Pres Bush 100%, despite what the media has portrayed.

I get the impression that the media is frightened of what the administration might do to them if they are too critical of the administration. They have been yes men and women ever since GWB asserted that we had to invade Iraq to save the world, even though it was fairly obvious at the time that he was full of it.

And when the news media reported that the administration was tapping domestic telephone calls, I never heard such indignation from the administration. You would have thought that the news media had broken all of the 10 commandments. I think the administration threatened them with fines for broadcasting obsenities. That shut them up.

What about you? Are you attracted to power or just dashing Israel, America and the media because of your Pro-terror, anti Israel beliefs you post in the majority of your questions.

If you were given a choice between a world of peace and a world of terror, what would you really choose? Based on your previous questions, I would peg you as a man of terror.
