Yes, I think so. I would consider a "mystic truth" to be something that no one ever knew before. An artist's real magic is enabling other people to see things from a new viewpoint, from which nothing has ever been seen before. Like a painting, for example, that shows something in a whole new light, or a song that evokes a deep new emotion to hear it. The neat thing about it is that the viewer creates his/her own new viewpoint when taking in the art, in whatever form it is. So an art form manages to create a whole new world of viewpoints, just because everyone will see the artwork in a different way.

Are these viewpoints "mystic truths?" I think so, because I've always believed you can't perceive something that doesn't exist. If you are able to perceive this viewpoint, it must be a truth (albeit a distorted one). And since you are unique and so is the art, it must never have existed (or been discovered) before, so that makes it mystic.

I think so, though some wouldn't call the 'mystic truths'. A painter isn't just supposed to show what something looks like-a camera can easily do that. he's got to show you something beyond mere repitition of likenesses, and this is what the best artists do. what this added value is is difficult to pin down. You've called it 'mystic truth' and that seems to me as good as anything.

I don't think the true artist can help him/herself into 'not' revealing mystic truths. It burns inside of you and must make itself 'known' to the world. It is your soul releasing itself with your gift. It is those truths that draws the eye to your work.

unquestionably. my favorite genre is southern sung landscape painting. when i view a true masterpiece from the period my mind actually "stops", as i term it. and i'm just there for an "eternal moment" when everything just seems to be perfectly clear and present. a very fullfiling experience. other people, of course, will have other preferences. but, i have noticed this same phenomenon occuring in other mediums, as well: sculpture, pottery, photography, etc. my view is that the true artist is far more in touch with "the higher energies", and manages to convey this connection through his /her art. as a matter of fact i have definitely noticed , and others who are "sensitive to energies" probably have, too. that the painting, or other art piece, of the true artist often carries a high vibe as well. some feel that this frequency is , in fact, the energy of the"divine" actually coming through the artist, acting as channel. so, inspired art can help to create in the viewer a moment's connection with "divinity" that he/she might otherwise not experience. this is "the point" of true art, and *"true"* religion.

I would consider a "mystic truth" to be an inner truth... like something that is true of you and only you... http://360.yahoo.com/profile-rjiQGtYydKqEzlX6KyRZNA--see my 360 images and tell me if you find anything in them? I can almost bet a million dollars you will see different things, meanings in my paintings than any other person ever has. Best wishes
