When you save a Paint picture, it is a bmp (bitmap). You can't take it apart as you could if it were an object (several parts which have been "grouped."). I think you will have to use the Select tool and draw something over it.

Most graphics are complex drawings comprised of many parts, like a WordPerfect WPG . You select the object, right-click on it, and click "ungroup." Then you will see the many parts which you can remove, duplicate, change color, etc. A bitmap is like a picture which you cannot ungroup.

I hope I didn't confuse you further.

Select the part you want to cut using the Select tool, then click Edit -> Cut or use Ctrl-X.

usually you can do it by selecting the rectangle select box, get what you want in the box and then go to edit and select cut.
