Do you have alot of money in the bank? Do you own any propety. It is alwyas best to put down zero and if you will get money back if you do not have to pay taxes on interest and property. you may have to pay a little soemthign if you get interest

First, it's the W-4 form.

Secondly, and it may be hard to believe, but if you do the worksheet that takes into account your circumstances, you'll generally get a number that will have the withholdings to be roughly equal to your tax bill.

If you want to make sure you get a nice refund, enter a lower number than the worksheet gives you, with "0" being the lowest.

If you want to make Uncle Sam wait to get his mitts on your money, pick a higher number. Just make sure you can pay the bill when it comes due on April 15th.

BTW....the fact that you are dating has no bearing on your tax bill or the tax withholdings.

The answer depends on whether you are the type of person who likes to have too much deducted for taxes, and get a refund later, or get more money now, and maybe have to pay some taxes later.

The number on your w2 will not change your taxes... Only the witholding.
