He can slide the boxes across but if that can't happen then he can cross through the water.

Why can he only cross once?
What's in the boxes?
How big are they?
Why would anyone build a bridge that can only hold 190 pounds?
What's on the other side?
Why does he need to get the boxes to the other side?
Why is he transporting the boxes all by himself?
Is there anything perishable food items in the boxes?
Anything flammable in the boxes?
Is the man healthy?
Does the man have a strong stomach?
Are the boxes from Fed-Ex, UPS, or U.S. Postal Service?
Is there flowing water under the bridge, like a stream, or still water, like a lake? Or is it over the ocean?
How deep is the water under the bridge?
Or is there just a big canyon under the bridge?
How long is the bridge?
What is the bridge made off?
What architectural design type is it?

Please provide us with more info on this hypothetical situation.

I would just make a run for it with the 3 5lb boxes. But then to be save he should take 2 boxes across then go back get the other box. Right

He can fast until he weighs 5 pounds less then carry all three boxes across the bridge at the same time.

tie a long string to 2 of the boxes. Walk across carrying one box. When he gets to the other side, he can pull the ohter 2 across.

I don't think that's possible. If he only had a rope, he could tie to the boxes and drag them over once he was on the other side. Maybe one of the boxes has a rope inside. If he had a catapult, he could catapult the boxes over then walk over the bridge.

Hmm - stumped and gazumped - the only thing I can come up with is if he carries two and anchors the third one to himself with rope and floats it across the river while crossing the bridge

If he's smart and cautious he'll make three trips and carry one each time back over... but you said he can only cross once...

Carry one and ship the other two UPS to the other side.
