What was the verdict and please explain what this means for her.

I have been confused about what would happen to her if she was found innocent by reason of insanity.
It just doesn't make sense to me. OF COURSE SHE IS INSANE, no one in their right mind could have done what she did, but if she is found innocent because of her mental illness does that mean she will be set totally free?

not guilty by reason of insanity .......
but she won't be set free

she will be confined to mental hosp.
after several years she might actually
be allowed her freedom, but ONLY
if doctors are convinced she has recovered
from her mental illness to the point where
she wouldn't pose a potential threat to
others.

She'll be in a mental hospital and be eligible for periodic reviews of her condition to determine if it is safe to release her into society.
