Your eyes are sensitive and if the Visine is that old, the preservative stuff they put in it has probably broken down. You could get, say, a stye or pinkeye (conjunctivitis.) It's not irreplaceable--it's a bottle of eyedrops! Go buy another one, you cheap bastard. Or get pinkeye--it's your call. But Visine won't take the redness out of an eye infection, that's for sure--especially if it expired three years ago. And if it messes up your eyes, you can't sue Visine because they'll just tell you that it's your fault because you dripped the nasty stuff in your eyes despite the fact that it expired three years ago.

If it hasn't been used by anyone but you then there shouldn't be a problem with getting an eye infection from it but there may be a chance that the chemicals have broken down and would no longer be effective in alleviating your current problem. Easy to find out though. Use it and if your still having problems in a few minutes then you'll know its best to chunk it out and get another bottle.

It depends on how old it is. If it's like a few months after the expiration date, you ought to be alright. It also depends on certain enviromental factors such as heat or sunlight that may alter the osmolality (concentration) of the eye drops.

Like any medication it loses its strength. It really wont do you any good. Would be like putting old water in your eye.
