I went to the hospital for my scheduled induction at 8pm and they said, "no one called you? you were cancelled. we'll call you either during the night or morning to come back so go about your normal business." Then they rescheduled me for another day. I am being induced because of my diabetes. and the baby is kinda big. 3 weeks ago she weighed 7.5lbs. so she should approx be 9 lbs since they grow .5lbs per week....i dont want to end up with a c-section

doctor's schedules are not perminent, they are extremeley flimsy, if there was something extreemly important, they might have taken your spot, sorry about what happened,

If the hospital is busy delivering natural labor seliveries then they will send you home unless the induction is a dire emergency. It happened to me. I was schedule for an induction and they sent me home. I then had a stress test for the baby a couple of days later. The baby was stressed making it an emergency and they induced me that day to have her. She was really big and her head was too big to come naturally so I ended up with a c-section. If you end up with a c-section do not worry. It is not too bad.

I think they can or they probably wouldnt of done it. Hospitals are pretty up to date on knowing what they can and cant get away with. I was induced and I ended up having a C-section. It is common for a woman who is induced to end up having a c-section so be prepared. Having a C-section wasnt that bad, I didnt have much pain afterwards but your stomach feels really heavy so it is harder to move around. The scar is barely visible because they cut you on the crease between your stomach and pelvis area. I had the cervadil and then they also gave me pitocin, my contractions ended up coming too fast and they had to reduce the dosage i was getting but then it ended up being too late, i was contracting but my daughter was not ready to come out so they ended up doing a c-section, she would not come down the pelvis. Good luck and I hope you can have it naturally, that was my goal and i was upset when i learned they had to do a c-section but ultimately as long as the baby is healthy you will forget everything else as soon as they are born. Is this your first child?

Maybe the Dr. scheduled to induce you had another mother go into labor. I hope they get to you soon. I had a C-Sect and to be honest I prefer it. But that was when they knocked you out for it. I hear that now they just give you an epidural. I'm sorry, but I don't want anyone sticking a needle up my spine so that I can be numb from the waist down. Heard too many horror stories about, one from my sister in law.

I guess they can if they are overwhelmed with too many people that weren't scheduled to have their baby...If you are that worried I would seriously call your OB/GYN and ask what the heck is going on...and what you should do, they might be able to get you in at another hospital if they are concerned as well...I'm sorry, I know that must be VERY frustrating!!!!!

regrettably, this is a situation at many hospitals suitable now. There are not sufficient beds for the inhabitants. final year, as quickly as my Dad exchange into stabilized, he exchange into shipped off to a distinctive hospital with the aid of fact there have been NO beds attainable at our community hospital. some weeks after that, my brother, who had emergency surgical operation, exchange into placed into in intensity care, no longer with the aid of fact he mandatory that time of care, yet with the aid of fact it exchange into the final attainable mattress in the hospital. They have been closed to any new sufferers! whilst he have been given moved to a typical room, there exchange right into a sparkling mom with a infant in the room suitable around the corner. that they had run out of room in the maternity ward! in case you're worried, talk on your well-known practitioner approximately this. perchance he will have you ever bypass to a distinctive hospital.

Yes, they can. It's a hospital. They have emergency's, staffing problems, etc. I'm sure they had a good reason for it. It should be comforting to know that they are thinking of you and the baby and want to be able to give you their best.

We just went through this with our daughter and the reason they gave was that they can only have so many inductions due to the staff ratio.
