I have a *MASSIVE* plantar's wart (larger than a nickel) on the top of my toe and have been trying to treat it with a number of methods (including an at-home wart freezing kit from Dr. Scholl's) and nothing's working! It's so gross I can't wear sandals without being self-conscious. Does anyone know any home remedies to treat this? Help!

How discouraging for summer. Thing is if it is on top of your toe it is not a plantars wart. Plantar means the bottom of the foot. I personally think the dermatologist is the best answer to any wart but aside form the over the counter choices you can try crushing an aspirin, regular aspirin not tylenol or ibuprofen, put it on the wart and cover with duct tape. Aspirin is salicylic acid which is what is contained in most OTC wart removers.

If this is on the top of your foot it is NOT a plantar's wart, the sole of the foot is where that kind of wart would grow. Maybe this is a corn, if it is on the toe or possibly a bunion??? They sell corn pads and bunion medicine in places like KMart. Maybe you could search on the internet for things of this discription and research it more to figure out just actually what you do have.. Wart medicine isn't going to work on it. It could be a fungus. It is hard to tell without seeing it, but it isn't a plantar's wart.

Mina is correct, and you can as well use duct tape. Sometimes, however, these are resistant to tapes of any sort...... However, if you see no improvement is 6-8 months, the next thing is acid, and done by a derm. The acid is applied, allowed to kill the top layer, then shaved off, and new acid applied. The process may take many applications until the bottom of the wart is reached. What you wish to avoid is a scar, where the wart was. They are more painful that the wart itself. Plantar warts are common viruses, and are flat, because you walk on the surface where they are.

I think Compound W is the best home treatment. I used it when i was younger. Make sure you get the plantar wart treatment that is specifically for Plantar Warts, Read the complete BOX before buying.

Plantar's warts occur on the "plantar" surface of the foot...which is the bottom or sole. So...what you probably have is a corn or large callus, which wart removal treatments will not affect. You should see a podiatrist for treatment.

i had the same thing...i did treat it with compound w freeze off ...but to be honest, i am not telling you to do the same, but i used it more than the directions stated to and also, i would soak the foot, and use a pumice stone to remove the dead tissue on the top, before treating it with the freeze application. i took about a month before it went away. i used the treatments every four to five days. i was desperate though, my warts were spreading. i had one huge one and 7 little ones starting. i do not have insurance and could not afford to see the dr. if you have insurance, the dr can burn the wart off. best of luck!!! i do know the pain you are in : (
