But I have a son. How does one work unknow and unexpected hours where they can be on call for a birth at any time, but still have kids at home? Im a single mom, are there any places i could take my kid if i was on call and my client went into labor at 2 am? Anybody have any experience on this? I want to do my dream, but i dont know how it can realistically work :(

You can still follow your dream of becoming a Doula, adjust your expectations. First do all the course work. 2nd you could wait until your child is older. 3rd prearrange child care for your son.

If you only have 1 son, then make arrangements for family members, friends or trusted neighbor to take care of him ahead of time.

If they're not available, have a babysitter on call for these types of emergencies, or just bring him along with you.

Find someone who can give short notice child care, like a neighbor or something.
