For me it was my water breaking and about an hour later contractions started..well more like 45 minutes later. Then I got sick to my stomach..over and over. For some women they lose their mucous plug or their contractions just stated. For everyone it's different. Youll totally know when its time. Best of luck and congrats!

For most women, it's cx's followed by the bag of waters breaking (though for some women it can be the other way around). For me, I've found myself in a frenzy of activity, things I feel compelled to complete immediately... and sure enough, within 24 hours I've gone into labor.

Also, you might lose your mucous plug at the onset of labor. It may be that you lose it don't go into labor for several days, but for some women that's the beginning of labor.

And, the baby drops low... you can suddenly breathe MUCH easier.

It`s weird, my water didn`t break until a couple hours before giving birth.
If it is TRUE Labor, the pain increases and has a pattern. It also does NOT go away by changing positions. If it is true Labor, trust me, you WILL know it!

there are no true signs - they are different for everyone.

a lot of people have what would normally be considered period like pain

for me it was back pain with my first - almost no cramping in the front until I was 8 cms

For some it is contractions that feel like braxton-hicks but more regular

some people lose their mucus plug

some pleople break their water (others trickle constantly)

For me it was the contractions that I felt in my back. They were awful I KNEW I was in labor they were nothing like the other ones. My water never broke, they had to do it at the hospital, but that is how I knew. I felt like my Back was splitting in two. I hope yours is not too awful. Good luck

Every woman is different. My water broke with one and I started having contractions with the first. My first pregnancy, I woke up and thought it was just Braxton-Hicks but after about half hour I passed the mucus plug.

Painful contractions, (not like Braxton Hicks), pressure, and when the contractions are 3-5 minutes apart continually. Then you should go to the hospital quickly.

Contractions that start and repeat themselves in regular intervals, with those intervals becoming closer together.
