WHY does it cost so much to make it?

The main reason is, we didn't buy very many. It took years to design that plane and develop the technology. Those developments costs become part of the price of the plane. The fewer you buy, the more development cost gets added to each one you do buy.

Work on the B-2 Spirit started when Jimmy Carter was President. He canceled production of the B-1, because he felt the B-2 would make it obsolete. Reagan Didn't want to wait that long so when he became President, The B-1 design was updated to the B-1b, and the Air Force bought some of those too.

Well, seeing as both my father and I work for the company that support the production of that jet, I think it's a wonderful thing! Any way, do you know what the B2 Stealth Bomber is used for? If so, then that might explain just why it's so expensive.

typical military program. If the Army buys hammers, they pay more than $100. USD for the same hammer you and I could buy for $10. at the home improvement store.

because they are full of alien technology that costs alot to ship from another planet...i mean alot!
