Quite honestly, it makes me sick to my stomach. Bottom line ... she killed her kids. Insane or not. I think she should be kept locked up. Instead she'll have the opportunity of getting out if they determine she's no longer a danger to herself or others.

Sorry, but i still blame Rusty. He KNEW she was sick. He KNEW she couldn't take care of the children. I recently read an article from a newspaper in Houston that was written right after the murders and it stated that Andrea was on Haldol and she went off it "at Rusty's insistence" because he wanted to have another baby (which was baby Mary).
Rusty could have had Andrea committed a long time ago and gotten help with the kids from their families.
As far as I'm concerned, there are 2 guilty parties. One has been set free, the other was never even tried for his crimes.

Killing 5 children isn't the act of a sane mother. She doesn't come across as wanting freedom (although I think she needed some freedom), wanting attention or planning a life beyond those deaths. I do think we should do our trials more like I believe Scotland does. One trial for the guilty or not guilty verdict and a second separate trial where sanity & sentenancing is considered.

I think its a reasonable verdict. As a clarification, she thought that the only way to save her children from going to hell was to drown them. Twelve independent psychiatrists testified that she suffered from post-partum psychosis and so not guilty by reason of insanity is good enough for me.

I think the verdict in insane, as is the premise of the insanity defense. If you were to examine the judgment processes of someone that took another person's life you would find there is sufficient pathology to determine the person was mentally ill.

If she could have just sat down and talk to the ones who would understand, I mean ask them "Am I A Bad Mother?" But I still think she should have been founded guilty.

She started off with the oldest who struggled to live. He must have been yelling "mom!" or something! There were bruises on him. He fought for his life.

This murderess is found "not guilty". Geez, every murderer from now on must want her lawyers.

What a horrible verdict.

Well, I am sure she is insane. And by law, the insane that didn't know right from wrong shouldn't be exectuted..yet you can argue that anyone that kills is insane. I do believe for her the greatest punishment is having her live and remember everyday what she did. She will enjoy hell for all her days, then hell for eternity..that is, if you believe in such.

She should have gotten off scott-free. Doesn't everyone know that George Bush killed the five little kids? After all, he gets blamed for everything else.
