Cat breeds don't differ as much as all breeds, all are relatively the same size, and can all be pretty well behaved and easy to care for (some newer breeds like munchkins have some health problems, though). some cats like persians are definately more suited for life indoors, unless you want to shave them every summer, and brush thei fur more often than normal. They do shed though. I've got to tell you, i would just go to a shelter when it comes time to get a new cat. Mixed breeds are just as good as any pure bred, and a lot cheaper. (FYI, some pure breds have been in-bred, and are more likely to have problems).

From what you have said, I think that the breed "ANY" would be lucky to have you for its human friend. You sound like a truly responsible and loving person who takes good care of your pets. As for your older cat, I hope you can be there with him when it's time for him to leave this earth. You and he will always remember the good times you've shared. So, the breed I recommend for you is "ANY"...

Truthfully, I recommend a cat that is the same color as your carpeting or your furniture.

I have a ragdoll (giant breed cat) and he is so affectionate and loveable. They love their people and want to be near them. Beware though - most of them will bust down the bathroom door to be with you.

a stuffed cat is best. no mess, no fuss, no feeding an watering. You always know where to find it and it won't tear up your house or turn furniture into shreds.

Maine Coons are great, lovable cats. They are pretty big, and big-hearted for that matter. Sweet things..
