My 2 month old has cradle cap, but she also has a red rash on her hairline. She is constantly scratching her scalp, as well as where the rash is located (hairline). Does anyone have a clue to what I can do about this to soothe her?

Currently, I wash her hair with Aveeno baby, and rub Olive Oil on her scalp for the cradle cap. I sometimes put a little
Olive Oil on her face because of dry patches.

Did you ask her doctor? There must be some cream or ointment they can recommend. Good Luck

I don't think cradle cap itches and eczema is not just around the hairline. You need to take her to a doctor. Have you been using baby wash on her hair?? OR.. putting anything that might be an irritant on her head because of the cradle cap?? you may need to go with a milder wash for her hair... maybe aveno.. never any moisturizers because it makes the cradle cap WORSE. Remember babies do not need all of the moisturizers...lotions... etc.. that we require. Shes SOOO young! A little lukewarm water should do the trick. Most of all, take her to the doctor because at this point, she might need a mild cream or something if its as bad as you say it is.

Ok I didnt see the fact that you put oil on her head and face. OIL IS A BIG NO-N0! lol

There are unanswered questions/suspicions that soy may cause some long term health effects -- but the jury is still out. However, if he can't tolerate cows milk, then he needs to be on something else. If breastfeeding isn't an option (it's not clear if you had been nursing and recently weaned), then you might want to try a hypoallergenic milk-based formula (like Alimentium) or a prescription formula (like Neocate) or even donor milk (if available) before going to soy. But it's your choice. Obviously many babies have done well on soy, so if there IS a risk, it's just that ... a risk. Your baby may well do just fine. EDIT: If your baby is allergic to dairy, then he could well have been reacting slightly to the dairy in your diet. Then when you started supplementing, the higher levels of dairy proteins caused a more extreme reaction. I would try eliminating dairy from your own diet, AND work on increasing your supply. If you still need to supplement then again, I'd recommend trying one of the hypoallergenic formulas. They are very expensive, but may be a better option than soy. But again, discuss it with your doctor and make the best choice for you and your baby.

Sometimes Cradle Cap can spread to a baby's face causing Seborrheic Dermatitis. It's itchy, sometimes red from the scratching, and can be very uncomfortable. Take your baby to the doctor before using ANY over-the-counter medications or home remedies. Usual remedies include Ketoconazole 2% shampoo for the Cradle Cap and 1% hydrocortisone cream for the Dermatitis.

The red line on her scalp is also from the cradle cap.

I wouldn't use Aveeno - I have found that my kids get more rashes from it than getting better. Also, do not use olive oil on your baby's skin! And since it's now spreading on her face, you really need to change the regimen.

Use baby oil. I personally only use Johnson & Johnson's. Rub it into baby's hair, and use a fine toothed comb to comb it out. Gently - don't pull baby's hair with it. Then wash hair - I use Johnson & Johnson's head to toe wash.

Her face may also be baby acne. I use Johnson & Johnson's baby bath bar. It's a little white bar of soap found in the baby aisle. Use this on her face blotches.

I have kids with super sensitive skin - this has always worked for me. You'll need to do this every day, for at least a few days. If it doesn't get better within a few days of this treatment, take her to see her pediatrician. But my guess is that it's getting worse from using products that are making her skin worse.

When my 16 year old son was an infant he had cradle cap really bad and my mother-in-law told me about the greatest home remedy. Rub baby oil on the baby's head and use a comb to get out the loose skin. The baby oil will not irritate the baby's head and will keep the scalp moisturized. Then rinse the baby's head with cool water. Hope this helps.

it sounds like a rash cradle cap or crap as we call it it usually Pusey or scabby looking ( you would wet it and massage the nasty part off) and eczema I've never seen it on the hair line it's usually on the body or neck on my kids, but I use a moisturizer or 1% hydrocortizone. to make it better. and if it's rash I'm not sure I'd make an apt. and ask a doctor but If anything try the hydrocortizone ( just a little) to help with the itch, see if that helps

My little boy had eczema on his cheeks. I was not sure what method to use but I didn't want to make my boy go through any surgery treatments at this young age. Some suggested a plastic surgeon since it was in a very visible location but our family doctor recommend this natural guide.

Best Eczema Treatment?

The doctor will tell you to use baby oil - THIS DOES NOT WORK! I used yellow Dial antibacterial bar soap ( don't get it in their eyes) and rinse it really well. Do this a couple of times, a couple of days in a row. If it doesn't get better, it is probably not cradle cap.

My daughter always had it real bad and the doctor told me to take dandruff shampoo and wash her hair in it (just be very careful to keep it out of her eyes) this helped with the cradle cap and then we always put just a little baby oil on her head after we washed it to keep it away and help soothe the skin.

Of course, first check with your doctor.

Would you like some free samples of Arbonnes ABC (baby line?)
I would think that the body wash and body oil might help you.

here is a little info about why I would suggest Arbonne:

Parents can feel as good as baby with Arbonne’s ABC line of products that are:
• Botanically-based and pH correct
• Pediatrician and dermatologist tested
• Non-sensitizing, non-irritating
• Formulated without nut oils
• Tear-free hair and body wash
• Not tested on animals
• Sunscreen provides broad-spectrum protection
