Difficult, it would require a complete pyschological shift from the affluent people of this world. They would need to realise that people are dying of preventable illnesses and starvation, and their hording their money away like a squirrel hording its nuts.
I seriously cannot see a switch to more socialist believes from the elite as it simply wouldnt benefit them financial. Mankind is not born greedy, but it is the dominant ideological factor in the West and therefore, it takes an exceptional person to think of others.

It's not so much the rich westerners, but the greedy governments of the poverty stricken nations.
What comes before feeding their own nation?
Guns and bombs, that's what.
If the money get's past that stage then it has to get by all the corrupt organisers who filter into their own pockets.
Charities are also on the bandwagon. There are only a few who pass through nearly all the money they raise. Some take more than 50% for so called adminstration and running costs!
So poverty will be wiped out if the world can do the following:
Be generous.
Be honest.
Be humble.
Be intelligent.
Show humility.
Stop corruption.
Stop greed.
Run things correctly.
A very, very tall order.

I think the only way poverty can be eradicated is if the wealthy are eradicated. It is said that 20% of the population controls 80% of the wealth. What do they do with that wealth? Just watch your local "Star" show, or read your local "Star" paper (one of those shows or papers that follow the stars) to find out. $3000 a night for a hotel room? $64000 for a ring? What for?!
No, unless there is some monumental shift in thinking, poverty will never be eradicated. How else can the rich look good, if they can not donate a few thousand to a worthy cause?

No its no longer conceivable, the poor will continually be there climate it is with suggestions from their circumstances or no longer. some are born into poverty, others merely loose each and every thing because of undesirable company or different motives. And if we did no longer have a poverty aspect no you'll recognize the position they rank in society. commonly even if individuals are grasping even the poor. all of us choose to have a significantly better existence, and existence type for some that is conceivable for others its no longer. also we can continually have poverty because imagine about it those that stay above the poverty aspect have on common 2-3 little ones. human beings below the poverty aspect have 5 or better little ones, in essence the poorer you're the better you breed. Not while the whole monetary system and the so called "free" (IE try telling a starving Ethiopian that he is free to earn a living) market economy still exists.
As this system although it is extremely effective in its own warped way and has raised society from mud huts to skyscrapers in only 1000 years... unfortunately uses greed as its prime motive force.
And greedy people have a knack of ignoring the plight of their neighbors.
Money is the means by which people gain the ability to hoard wealth. And its one thing to say that its is good because it allows peoples achievements to be proportional to their efforts ETC.....
But although this is true for some it simultaneously opens the door to corruption unlimited.
The future of humanity will inevitably be like in small self sufficient communes with barter ETC...... but with Pods and flying cars.
But to achieve this Utopian dream power needs to be wrestled from the greediest and most powerful people in the world.
Who would rather destroy the world and kill every last man woman and child then relinquish control of it.
So not with out major world changes..... and not with-out war....
the likes of what you have never even dreamed possible.

simple answer . NO! because one the bible says so (yeah yeah but true it does, the poor shall always be) and this is because there will always be greedy people exploiting people who need help, so you want to eradicate poverty, start with the mulitnationals, then the governments , then the countries, then maybe you can. if you think i'm talking crap you should see a docu pregramme about Neil Morrisey's secret (that is the one in men behaving badly) and see how multinationals destoyed a community , totally wiping out their homes and livelihood just because they didn't want morrisey to expose a herb that might put them out of business. so there

Not unless those 'who have' are prepared to give to those who 'have not'
Many people are isolated from the poverty in the world. In the west we just want more, more, more. Its impossible to know what it feels like to live with nothing and not know if you or your family will eat today for those of us who have freezers full of food and still feel hard done to because we cant afford a bigger house, a better car, a more exotic holiday.......
There is enough food in this world for everyone but we throw it away in the west and people die elsewhere for the cost of a pack of cigarettes.

To view the seeming injustice in life is quite discomforting until one discovers the reason for life's apparent inequalities. If one is a Christian, and believes that one only has one life to live... and really believes this, then there's little than can be done to ease your view of life. If, however, you are a more rational person, and can readily realize how absolutely impossible it is to experience everything in Creation in just one life, then you might be open to the concept that one has more than one life to live. If you can accept this concept, then the next is that of Karma, or for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
What you see happening in the world is Karma playing itself out in each person, regardless who that person is, or where that person lives. You are fat and happy in this life, and in the next you may be... depending upon how you lived your fat and happy life... skinny and miserable, or again, fat, happy, and maybe even rich. Everyone and that means every single person, is living out a Fate Karma that is quite precise in its operation and in seeing to it that you meet every experiential need you have in this life.
So, have empathy for others, but also realize that they "need" what they are experiencing, otherwise they would not be experiencing it. This experiencing is how we grow, learn, and develop our eventual virtures. Life is not, as the less enlightened believe, capricious or arbitrary. It is quite precise.

Yes, it can, by promoting credit unions, and Green Pound barter schemes. Poverty only exists because the money system exists. Opt out of the monetary system by using alternative Green Pound schemes and nobody is poor.
You can use your skills and labour to trade. IT helps if you have access to land and tools, and local or wider markets.
Check out The Walburg Project, so successful they banned it (the banks got nervous.)

Yes, it can be, just like Polio was eradicated. There will always be inequalities, some people will always have more than others, but we have the resources and technology to eliminate starvation-level poverty. All that is required is the will.

maybe, one day, the kind of extreme poverty you see in Africa will be eradicated. but there will always be poverty. there will always be poor people who die early because they spent their whole lives working hard. and there will always be ignorant rich people who live a life of luxury and think that they are in such a high position because they are better than everyone else.
but i would like to see it be eradicated. but that wont happen unless the richer people stop taking such damn good care of themselves and start caring more about other people.
