I have a new couch, yesterday actually, my 3 year old found a marker, and covered my walls and of course the couch...I need to know if ANYTHING will take it out...because when my husband comes home from business on thursday, if the couch he hasn't even seen has black marker, he'll be livid.

When you use one of those solvents, the trick is to provide someplace for the dissolved ink to go, so it won't just stay in the fabric. A really cheap way to sop it up is to unwrap a roll of toilet paper and press it against the back side of the fabric while you are dabbing solvent onto the front. At least this will work for the cushions, and may help elsewhere.

It would probablly be the best if you contact the maker of the pen and see if they know anything about removing it. Basically, what you are looking for is a solvent. You have to be careful, however, it may also dissolve the dye from the fabric as well.

My personal suggestion is NOT to try anything on visible areas until you know it works. You should try it on underside or in the folded area in small section only, and wait until it is dry to make sure the color does not fade.

I used to work for a wholesale clothing manufacturer who stamped the samples with permanent ink. We used really cheap aerosol hairspray, like Aquanet, and brush. Keep spraying and brushing. If you can put water on the couch you can gently blot it with a damp cloth too. It has something to do with the alcohol in the hairspray. It never faded any of the clothes, but check for colorfastness. I've also used this to remove ball point pen.

Use GOOF OFF. I find that the spray works the best. You can find it at Menards or Home Depot. Good luck!

Try Goof Off or Afta. I think you can buy both at Wal-Mart or similar stores.

Good Luck!
