Right before the car starts, I hear a short buzz, almost as if it is under the dash. Then the car starts, but weakly, as if the battery was weak. Any idea what I should check other than the battery?

The buzzing noise is your fuel pump charging the system for 2 seconds before startup, this is normal you probly never noticed it before. If the motor cranks over slowly (ruh-ruh..ruh-ruh...) then either the battery is weak, the connections on the battery terminal are corroded, or the connection to the starter is corroded. Check those out, and have your battery tested.

I would think the buzzing is the fuel pump but you say it's under the dash. Could be a servo in the heater/air conditioner system opening or closing a vent or blend door. Some are electric and have motors.

The battery is dying, the buzz you hear is most likely your starter throw out, it finally catches after a few seconds. The question is why is your battery weak, try to jump it and see if you hear the same thing, if so I am wrong, but I am never wrong.

its definetly your alternator for one. you may have a problem with your starter but my suggestion is to first go and replace your alternator because its not charging your battery correctly and if you have any problems after that your starter is bad also

The electrical system in whole. It could be any part of the system that is faulty.
