I am 18 weeks pregnant ( 4 1/2 months) and I fell down the stairs in my house? I called my midwife she said go to the ER to be on the safe side. It was almost time for me to go to work and I was'nt in pain so I went to work. Now I am at work my lower back is hurting, but I don't want to sit in the ER for about 4-5 hours before they can see me. My next DR. appointment is Friday morning. HELLLPP what should I do? I already told my boss he was ok with it.

I fell down about 6 steps but the steps had carpet on them. Through the whole thing I was on my back I landed on my butt.

You should visit the ER. Your baby is probably fine but its best to be on the safe side, both for him or her and for you.
Best wishes and God bless.

Can you make an appointment with your doctor? Move it up to first thing tomorrow?
Did you fall hard? What part of your body did you hit on your way down?
If you are feeling okay then you are probably okay...if you have any cramps you should go to the ER right away.
I would go if I were you, just to be safe and because that is what your midwife said to do. But if you feel fine and you have an appointment so soon, maybe you can wait it out.
Good Luck w/ the baby!

Even though everything probably is fine, you really, really need to go to the ER. I know it's an inconvenience, but you should always err on the side of safety when you're pregnant. Go to the hospital, make sure all is okay, and then you won't have to worry about it after that.
I know it's not the answer you were looking for (otherwise you'd already be at the hospital), but do what's best for your baby.

Listen to your midwife for heaven's sake! She obviously knows what she's talking about. I would think that waiting 4-5 hours would be worth it for the sake of the baby. How would you feel if you didn't and something happened to the baby as a result? Go now!!

Call your doctor's office and do what they advise you to do. You don't need to wait for your appointment on Friday, He/She might tell you to come to the office and then you wouldn't need to wait in the ER. The ER might even have a doctor see you immediately without waiting. Do something now.

anything could have happened during your fall -- you need to be checked out as well as that baby -- go to the ER now.

go just to be on the safe side...the midwife knows about these things and she is definitely right to tell you to go.
