what you'll need:
Nail file(NOT a metal one), polish,polish remover,base coat & top coat, cuticle cream,cuticle pushers

First remove any old polish, then file your nails(for fingers file from corner to center to prevent splitting, for toes go straight across). Apply the cuticle cream to your cuticles & push back gently with the cuticle pusher(NEVER cut the cuticles). Wash your hands in warm water & dry. Apply your base coat, let dry then apply 1 to 2 coats of polish, let dry, finish with a top coat.

For stronger nails use a strengthening polish (likeSally Hansen's advanced hard as nails) as a base & top coat, you can also use colors with a strengthener in them as well, & there are polish removers with geletin which also strengthen nails.

for a pedicure you'll need just about everything as above, along with a foot bath filled with warm soapy water, a pumis stone,a foot scrub & a moissturizing foot lotion.

Soak your feet in the tub for about a half an hour, scrub them witht he foot scrub & the use the pumic stone, dry your feet & begin filing the nails & then paint

I just clip my nails and smooth the edges with an emery board untill they're a short length (guitar player, nails can't be long) and I use the manicure/pedicure kit made by Sally Hansen with the stick-on nail guides and the white and pink polish.

well i spend the longest on my feet as i soak them first then file, scrape, sand and moisturize. then i paint my toe nails. i usually take care of my fingernails daily as they are thin and weak so i spend alot on hardeners and creams and special polishes. i dont like to paint my nails in colors if they are short. i have found for my weak nails it is best if i dont allow them to grow beyond the end of my fingers and because i have long nail beds they look longer than they really are which is good. i love the look of clear nail polish with tiny sparkles in it for my finger nails and i like to use a whitening pencil under my nails. i love the look of a french manicure on my toe nails. once in awhile if calluses are getting out of control i treat myself to a professional pedicure, but usually i enjoy doing this myself. i love to buy all the nail stuff at walmart, i spend a small fortune.

my best suggestion would be to have a manicure and pedicure done by a professional. pay attention to what they do- so you can do your own next time :D

Pedicure:I get a tub of hot water, a bath sponge, and soap and lotion. Also nail paint/enamel.
You wash a foot and apply lotion. You may want to buff your feet and toes too. Then u apply nail enamel. You may want to cut toes before the nail enamel. For more info about anything in the world {especially fish} u can ask a question on yahoo answers and put it in the fish section. Ask for mollielover. That goes for anybody.
