I would like to learn javascript, but all the books I have gotten shows me codes to do stuff not what each things does and means. I want something that shows everything step-by-step from basics and on up and show me what each letter and dot stands for. Does anybody know a site that explains all of this. I do know html but that is not enough for peoples needs.

I think I know just the place. Check out:

http://www.w3schools.com/

They offer comprehensive tutorials on javascript basic html/xhtml, CSS, DOM, etc. A definite must for anyone interested in learning web development. The best part is they have sections where you can tinker with the code and see how your changes affect the finished product. Good luck!
