About Miss America 2006?

I was watching Miss America 2006 the other night, but why wasn't she the same girl in the Miss Universe 2006 representing USA? They both said 2006. ...confused..

There is a Miss America Pageant, and a Miss USA pageant...miss usa was in the miss universe pageant.!

Miss USA represents Miss USA in the Miss Universe pagent, not Miss America. They're two different things.
