recently purchased a new 05' honda shadow vlx deluxe..less than 100 miles on the road and its needing a new clutch?? what could have caused this and are these bikes known for this problem?

I doubt you need a new clutch. Some of the other guys might know if you have a hydraulic or cable actuated clutch.

If the former (cable), check the cable. It could be broken any where within the cable housing. Most often it will be at the squeeze lever or clutch slave lever.

If the latter (hydraulic), check your fluid reservoir. If low, fill it. Most likely you will just need to bleed the system. It's just like bleeding your brakes.

Are you sure the clutch is ruined? Sounds like you either rode the heck out of the clutch or it was not adjusted properly. The Shadow makes a strong clutch. That isn't the weak link of the bike.

I've only seen clutches wear that fast from doing burnouts and no free play on the clutch cable. Still under warranty?

I have a '95 that we repaced the clutch on last year. I had it done because of the racket it was making,l not because of malfunction. . What's your symptoms?

You should scrap the piece of junk and buy a Honda. Oh wait....you have a Honda....sorry.

Should be under warranty. You should have bought a harley.
