whoever said Heifers is dead wrong. A heifer is a female cow. Male cows are either Bulls or Steers.
A bull is an intact male cow. A steer is a gelded or neutered bull.

yeah they are called the meal that you just had at McDonald's. If a male cow is not used for breeding, which most aren't, they are banded so that their nuts fall off and then they are called steers. And steers are allowed to grow from 1-2 years and then are butchered. that is jsut the sad reality of life.

A cow is a mature female of the bovine animals. A male is a bull and a young bovine is a calf.
BULL - mature (about 24 months or older) male bovine
HEIFER - immature female bovine that has not had a calf
COW - mature female bovine that has had a calf

Well for starters a "cow" itself is female. Secondly, a steer is a castrate male bovine.

Yes they are steers which means they have had their testicles removed. It's like neutering your dog or cat

When they are young they are called calves. If they are castrated, to be raised for slaughter, they are called steers.
