♡Not to me, kendo sounds like 'k-eh-n-doh' and candle sounds like 'c-ann-dul'. A few different sounds in there, 'eh' - 'ann'; 'doh' - 'dul' when I pronounce it.♡

You're a non-native speaker, perhaps?

Some ESL students think that the "dark l" at the end of a word sounds like "o", but it doesn't. Also, the "a" sound in "candle" and the "e" sound in "kendo" are different, too.

Don't get discouraged. Everyone hears the sounds of another language differently from the way native speakers hear them.

No it isn't. The 'do' sound in Kendo sounds like do in do re mi.

Of course they do!

If you said to me go light a Kendo... I'd know what to do.

Same as if you said... Ken Doll I'd do the same.
