We live in a society that values the "quick fix" or "magic pill" that will make all of our problems instantly disappear, when the truth is that there is no such "secret tip" to living longer.

The best way to live a healthy, happy life is to keep things simple and natural. Eating healthier foods is a great way to start. The majority of the foods we buy in a grocery store are so highly processed and full of chemicals (for preservatives, flavorings, bleaching, etc) that our bodies have a difficult time recognizing them, let alone digesting them. These foods also contain ridiculous amounts of fats and sugars (more than you would find in any natural fruit, vegatable, whole grain), so is it really a surprise that obesity is on the rise?

Exercising is another way to maximize health and happiness. Exercising helps to strengthen our bones (this is essential for women b/c of osteoporosis), sweating releases toxins from the body, and it promotes leaner muscle mass and a stong heart. I think it's also a great way for people to relieve stress and anxiety, but it seems that nowadays people stress more because exercise is a chore in their fast-paced lives.

Developing strong relationships is another key to optimal living. That seems like a given, doesn't it? Being around positive people builds self-esteem and the desire to do some good in the world. Being around positive people helps you grow in character and work on your weaknesses. People who treat you with respect and equality will want the best for you, will look out for you, and be there when you need them.

Drinking plenty of water thoroughout the day (a good tip to healthy living is don't drink anything you wouldn't take a bath in!), developing good time management skills to avoid unecessary stress, and minimizing your exposure to harmful chemicals are all excellent additions to the list. If you're the spiritual type, making peace with a higher power or finding some greater purpose in life can also benefit one's happiness and general well-being.

Sorry, no one ever said life was going to be easy. It's stupid of us to think that we know so much about the workings of the human body that we can replace one or more of these necessary lifestyle choices with a single herbal suppliment or ancient chinese remedy and still be functioning at an optimal level.

Something called the "The Three Legged Stool". (3LS)

1) whole foods diet
2) skilled relaxation (meditation)
3) aerobics

a) Whole foods are those that man has not yet refined. The basic reason for refining has been so that the shelf life will be much longer (No self-respecting fungus or bug will eat it. They know better.)

For example, an unpeeled potato is "whole" and a peeled one is not. Most of the essential nutrients are in the peeling. Nearly all the calories are in the white stuff inside. An unpeeled wheat grain is "whole" and the refined wheat has had the "peeling removed" = white flour. Brown rice is whole and white rice is not.

A good place to learn about whole foods diet is http://www.wholefoodsforlife.com/

b) Skilled Relaxation

3) aerobics at least 20 minutes 3 x a week in your target heart rate zone.

My mentor says, a healthy man is a happy man... a happy man is a moral man.

So the most effective secret to maximizing your health, happiness and well-being is to stay healthy with a good diet and an open mind.

No subject what we've we can by no means be convinced. The mystery isn't to uncover love, be smarter, or be skinnier. I have discovered that the real key's Antidepressant therapy. Ha ha...I'm simply kidding. The key's conveniently say to your self "I'm Happy" and simply allow your brain comply with. It sounds so tacky and I by no means used to suppose it while my husband advised me that. One day, I was once simply so beaten and harassed, and I was once identical to "Screw it, I am pleased in spite of this". It labored.
