First Choice - Michael Vaughan - injured knee - having Vaughny would really help England as he is a inspirational captain and a double hundred batsman when hes on form. He brought home the ashes!!!!
Second Choice - Andrew Flintoff - injured ankle - hes done some captaining of england u19s and has gd leadership qualities. He captained the side to India with moderate success and is the captain for the Ashes in November with Vaughan out!!!!
Current = Andrew Strauss, Captain of Middlesex
The ECB have looked @ the team and seen that Strauss has captained Middlesex and put him in the top job.

Not a straightforward question. I'm sure the ECB would say that Michael Vaughan is the England captain. But as he is currently injured (as is his 2IC, Freddie Flintoff), Andrew Strauss will cappatin the side in the next 2 tests against Pakistan. If everyone is fit, then Vaughan will captain England on the winter tour to Australia.
