Pretty much. It's our human nature to be competative, thats why Yahoo used it. I mean nobody would be this dedicated to answering Questions if it weren't somewhat competitive.

I don't I have better things to do than try to get some stupid points that mean nothing. I originally joined yahoo answers because I had a question and wanted advice. You joined not long after I did and I noticed your questions and they got my attention so I got addicted to answering them. So honestly your answers is the only reason I bother staying a member of the yahoo answers community.

You think? No, I think the best answers encourage but we would still be addicted without the points. Besides they have given us what for the points? Nothing that has been promised. Pooey on them.
