My buddy and I are thinking of starting a window washing business. We were wondering if any type of license is required for this line of work.

I am sure there is a money license from you city, but as far as a professional one I don;t think so.
Check with you city and county Offices

Are you in the US? If yes, it's going to depend on your state. Here's a directory of all states' pages in respect to business licensing: http://www.sba.gov/hotlist/license.html

If no, then I'd suggest checking with the Economic Development pages of your government's web site.

Hope that helps!

Most states require a "Specialty Contractors License" for jobs like this that cost more then $200.00. This license is very easy to get, its fairly cheap and you only have to have three work references and it covers you up to $5,000 per job.
