Hang on a minute everyone. I have been a professor for a few years now and I may be able to assist with this question but I do not know for sure.
Generally speaking, males are hunters and females are gatherers. This has been transmittled through our genes for thousands and thousands of years. Because men are the 'hunters,' they are rewarded for showing courage and taking control. It is okay for them to "act out" more because it is expected of them.
If you stop and look carefully, I would imagine that this teacher you speak of is focusing on the student that is most disruptive to the class, not necessarily the most intelligent. But he may be both and is using attention-seeking behavior that gets reinforced every time this behavior occurs. In other words, boy acts out, gets attention of teacher, teacher wants to hush boy so he or she smiles, gives some hand signal or facial emotion. Boy has gotten not only the teacher attention he wanted, but he has all eyes on him. He knows that if he repeats the same behavior (raising hand, asking a question, contributing in some way or disrupting in some way, he will again have all eyes on him.
You certainly do not need to be jealous. You will be noticed if your homework is completed in full when it is due, it is spell-checked AND checked over by reading it through (spell check does not necessarily know the difference between two, too and to), be polite and follow class rules and set an example of how you would want your students to be behaving if you were the teacher.
Try to see the situations from both points of views. Yours and Teachers.
I happen to teach Special Education so my whole day is determining how to modify a students' behavior so that he or she does not disrupt the class and hog all of the teacher's attention.
Hope that helps!
Oh, there is a spell check right above the box on the right hand side. Even if you are not a white person, it is still the language of the white person that will get you through school. After school...speak however you wish to speak. Teachers DO pay attention to more than you think they do!

Gee...you mean you "don't" "know" why? What kind of word is intelligenton?
If you want to have you teachers like you, start with impeccable spelling and grammar and use real words.
Study the material ahead of time, ask questions, questions that took thought. Show you care.
Your question told me you want to your teacher to think that you are intelligent but don't want to put any work into it.
More: Why are you all blaming the teachers --- if you have a number of students that will work hard, the teacher may feel good when it appears that they have students who care. And yes, it may appear that there is favoritism, but if there are students that contribute in class and work hard, it makes the teachers job much more pleasant and easier. Certainly better then trying to interact with students who do little more then take up space.
I am a student in school right now, I am also almost 3 times older then some of the students. I read, I study. I bust my behind. When the instructors ask a question, they look my way for an answer, because 99% of the time I am the only one prepared enough to answer it.
I not only memorize, I analyze and have been told that I have forced the instructors to learn because I have presented questions that they must research.
They know i care and like it.

Are you speaking of favoritism? Or are you speaking of physical attraction? A wise teacher will not show favoritism over the others, but you may sense in the teacher's attitude rejection of your self, which I think is what you are impressed with in this classroom. It would not be in anyone's best interest to favor one over another in a classroom.

intelligence should not enter the equation, personality not withstanding , are you a nice person, does your attitude to learning get in the way, look to yourself, getting it right all the time does not mean you are learning there is such a thing as eperiential learning, learning by doing, by making mistakes this is how we learn, just dont repeat the same mistake, popularity comes a poor second to exams.

Teachers, like parents, tend to fixate on the one student they can hone in on.
