America might have a lot more respect and credibility if the so-called "war on terrorism" was actually that -- but it's not. If we were serious about fighting terrorism, we would have taken out Hezbollah a long time ago, invaded and occupied Iran instead of Iraq (a much greater threat, and that was known to everyone), invaded and occupied North Korea, actually found Osama Bin Laden and other high-profile terror leaders, cut off trade with Saudi Arabia (where many of the terrorists have come from), and so on. Instead our president has pursued his own agenda intended only to make him look "tough" at home and enrich his friends and business acquaintances. Much of the rest of the world sees these obvious contradictions in our "war on terror" and rightly condemns us for it. That many ditto-headed conservatives here in the US are still spouting the party line though it's so obviously false only shows how ignorant and unintelligent they are.

You know, it's not because a country doesn't pledge two hundred thousand troops in countries the US are fighting in, or two carrier groups to police the seaways that other countries do not do their parts.
Granted, the US military is the one that has the most res sources in the Western world. They have the equipment, funding and manpower to do that sort of things, if not the com on sense to not wage a war on multiple fronts.
But many other countries do not have this kind of res sources. So would you rather a country goes bankrupt, much like the way the US are going deeper and deeper into debt, or that a country provides what it can to contribute? After all, if everyone goes bankrupt helping the US, who will the US wind up borrowing from in the end?
And really, how can the US expect anyone to willingly join their cause, when they say "You're with us or against us"? I call that cooperating while under a very big gun.

Maybe it's because you cannot honestly fight terrorism. Or at least not the way President Bush thinks we can.
Terrorism has been around since the dawn of time, in many different forms. You cannot just fight it and stop it in a year or two. Look at the crusades in the dark ages- same thing, different weapons. There is not going to be an end to this so-called "war on terrorism" for a long time. I believe that 9-11 is an example of what happens when nations meddle in affairs they have no business in.
If the people in that part of the country want to blow themselves up, fine. Maybe they should for awhile.
I sound harsh but it's the truth. Truth hurts as they say.

With the tearing down of the Berlin wall, we all thought it was the end of the Cold War. East and West can finally come together and discuss their differences.
The Berlin Wall was a symbol that separated the the two halves of the globe. A symbol, nothing more.
The weapons being utilized against the American coalition forces and the Iraqi government are being made and sold by the Russians and China. We let our guard down once, and we were attacked for it. If we let our guard down again, we will be attacked, again.
The first step is to attack the currency of the insurgents. The illegal drug trade. Cocaine and heroine are being bartered by the insurgents. The Poppy fields in excess of government control must be destroyed. Without any currency, in this case, drugs, any institution or community will collapse.
To answer the question...The profiteers are
supplying and dealing with the Insurgents within the Middle East. And, those profiteers are whole governments and institutions who hated the United States of America before the Berlin Wall and after the Berlin Wall came tumbling down.

I think the United States is doing as much as it possibly can. But we have so many problems within our own borders, many of us can't imagine why we aren't spending our dollars here instead of in a country that doesn't want us there. Do you remember what happened in New Orleans. If that was not a wake-up call about the poor in America, then I don't know what would be. We need our schools rebuilt (education is the key to freedom, this country has always known that), we need our borders protected (to prevent terrorists from getting in), we need to provide health care for our citizens, and continue to support new businesses and technology in order to provide jobs here at home for our citizens. Good question - very thought provoking.

There are terrorists all over the world. What may seem like a noble effort to get back at Iraqi terrorists is just Bush being petty and stupid.
The majority of the hijackers of 911 were Saudi Arabians, but I don't see Bush making any immediate efforts to talk them out of future actions. Maybe because the Saudi Arabian prince has a ton of stock in the American economy!
Lebanon? Burma? A HUGE chunk of Africa? What are we doing to help? And you claim that we are the good-doers of the world. Pft, don't make me laugh.
We're in the Mid-East for two reasons: supposed revenge and oil.
P.S. What are YOU doing to help? Making a question on Yahoo!Answers doesn't seem very pro-active to me....

Why ? Because terrorism is a volatile and hard to define term, and because it is not socially safe to continue this,it sets people apart .
The best way to respond to a shot is with a flower, and look at the Inca's or other civilization, they choose to live in peace. War only brings more war,and a solid example is Pope Joan Paul the 2nd and many many more !
