Honestly absolutely nothing. You give them a topic and they will disagree on it. They would agree to each of them getting a pay raise.
I personally feel that there is a lot more common ground than they are willing to admit. I think sometimes that they purpousely disagree on stuff to win the upper hand.

They all agree that we have or have had a great country. They just don't agree on what makes it great and how to keep it that way.
But maybe that's what makes it great. If everyone agreed with one party and one way of doing everything, we might become a socialist society where everyone HAS TO agree, or be imprisoned or executed.
It can be upsetting that there is so much conflict in our society, but that's also the process of working things out. In our highly technical information age, there is a lot to work out.
Families, especially larger ones, are seldom in perfect harmony. Siblings battle amongst themselves, and kids have disagreements with parents about rules, etc. Consider a family with an overbearing abusive father, though. That family might seem very docile and orderly, but certainly not because they are all in harmony and agreement. Such a family would be under the tyranny of the dad, and definitely not operating as a democracy. Parents should be in charge, but good parents are also good listeners and try to reason out solutions within the family unit.
Progress, whether within a family, a business, an organization, a country or a planet, depends upon lots of communication and give & take. Different ideas and opinions must be voiced, and people should be able to petition and vote for what they want.
Freedom requires constant effort, communication and coordination.

There was a time I would have said look at the very basic things that all societies hold sacred:
-religion
-family unit
-self-sufficiency
-doing the best you can for yourself adn your family
-who the enemies of our country are
but the last decade we have seen all these things under fire from both groups in one form or fashion. I honestly say I don't know if there is anything both ideologies can get behind without the radicals on both sides destroying any chance of unity.

I think both sides would both agree that politics is a stressful, but money making endeavor.
