So I have a meeting w/my boss to tell him I am leaving because I feel useless at the office. He gives me a job to work on for days, which only takes me half the time to finish. He tells me to get off the job I am working on becasue its not approved yet but it takes him another 2 days to give me something different. He knows that I can be more productive but his not able to manage the workload well and neither does anyone in the office. Then today he puts me back on the job he said was not approved yet. What the hell is going on? I work in an architectural field and its getting on my nerves. He said things would change and we are going through some exciting times. Is he bullshit@@ng me? But why keep me if I am not being that productive most of the time?

Why are you complaining about a job that probably pays you well? Tell him that you are frustrated and ask if there is any way you can help get things organized. Do you have a different job lined up already? You should probably take a deep breathe and see if there is a way to be proactive. Unfortunately, unless you are the boss, there will always be some sort of trials and tribulations that drive you nuts. Don't do something rash.

Maybe you were hired when times were really good, and now maybe they are not so busy and he's having a hard time finding things for you to do. I would just talk to him and tell him that you are ready for more responsibility if he is willing to give it to you. I'm sure if there is a problem that he will confront you one on one if you ask to speak to him privately. Sometimes bosses aren't as you see them. I am a boss and I know that sometimes I seem like I don't know what the hell's going on either. You just get caught up in the stuff that you need to do and forget that you are supposed to be managing a staff. Its a hard job. Cut him some slack and talk to him calmly about it. If it doesn't get better and you aren't happy, find another job. But give him the benefit of the doubt until you find out what is going on.

I'm an early retired Boss from a small company. When I read this is a problem yes with the work load. When your Boss says your work was not approved means out my experience there is problem in the company....

It basically just sounds like you have a boss with poor management skills. So, either find ways to start taking on more responsibilities on your own or move on to another company. Good luck!
