I think you are on the right track Also because the Holocaust had NO redeaming purpose. Slavery at least had the "small" purpose of being good for the Economies of the contries that were involved in it. (that is why Slavery STILL exists in some countries) Not that I think slavery was good it is a very bad thing. The Holocaust also has better "PR" because the people who want you to "remember it" just want that they are not out to convince people that we still need to pay for it. The Jews just want us to make sure it doesn't happen again. The People who keep bringing up slavery are not bringing it up to try and prevent it (if they were then maybe they would mention that it still exists) they just bring it up as an excuse.

How about this for a suggestion:
The Holocaust is over.
Slavery has ended.
Yes, they were both terrible events. Millions of lives were ruined through both of them. But they are OVER. What would happen if we just accepted that fact and got on with our lives? We've all learned valuable lessons from both of these tragedies. No one wants to see them happen again -- or any other violation of Human Rights. The Holocaust annihilated not only Jews, and Poles, but also Germans (yes!) homosexuals, Czechs, enemies of the state, gypsies and many others.
Slavery set Black nation against Black nation, Black tribe against Black tribe. For every slave landed in the Bahamas, Cuba, South America or North America, five others died during capture or during transport, so the loss in human life in both of these events was terrible. One can only wonder at what wonderful scientific, political or social advances might have been made, by some of those who were slain.
But it seems every time we turn around, there is another group wanting reparation for something that happened generations ago.
There is no way to turn back the clock and right the wrongs that took place. There is no way to unfight the Civil War, or the Irish Revolution, or WW2.
Can't we please try looking forward, instead of this continual backward focus?

You've missed the point. About 13 million citizens were murdered by the Nazis.
Somewhere between 6 - 6.5 million citizens were murdered for being Jewish, and the surviving Jews named this "The Holocaust".
And somewhere between 6 - 6.5 million disabled, mentally ill, Gypsies, Communists, artists and other 'undesirables' were murdered, and no one called it anything. They had no community to name it, or them, or remember their names.
Originally, the term "The Holocaust" did not apply to the entire 13 million murdered people.
The point of remembering is not to upset you; it is simply that if you see those conditions arising again you have a responsibility to object, and you have a responsibility in your everyday life not to be a fascist.
You can't just bleat 'it must never be allowed to happen again' ; you must be able to analyse what 'it' was, how 'it' happened and how to prevent 'it' from happening again.
And what exactly do you mean that it gets more 'backing' than slavery? In the 1980's there were people that cared enough to put pressure on the South African govt to end apartheid. Slavery is still used in some parts of Africa, and not always by whites. And there are still anti slavery campaigns running today.
To end slavery you don't have to compare it to any other objectionable incident in history. It is offensive in itself. Like female circumcision, or child sex abuse; there are some things that people do to each other that are unsupportable.

the superb thank you to declare that's that slavery exchange into ultimately emancipated 2 hundred plus years in the past. Plus there are no slaves that are around as we communicate. The Holocaust on the different hand exchange right into a no longer even seventy 5 years in the past and are nonetheless survivors nonetheless approximately. yet, regrettably this probable has to do extra with political earnings and coach ponying. this is less complicated to gasp on the Holocaust than at slavery because of the 60s proper.

Slavery and the Holocaust are both horrendous black marks on the history of the world. I would have to say that perhaps the reason some people find the Holocaust as being more abhorrent is because the Jews during WWII were not enslaved in order to support some sort of business society, they were tortured and murdered purely for the sake of who they were. At the very least, slaves were kept alive because of the value they brought to the slave owner who needed their abilities at working the fields, etc. Jews had no value to their torturers/murderers. They merely had to be exterminated.

Partly because of the numbers (6 million to 400,000 is a HUGE difference) and partly because the holocaust happened in "modern" times when we thought we were beyond that sort of crap. I also think it's because the jews were not just exterminated, but tortured in the death camps. I understand stand slavery was a lifetime torture...but you must admit, the death camps were UNUSUALLY horrific. It's the same reason why you don't hear about the "boring" murders on the news, but you do hear about the ones where soemone was eaten or dismembered or whatever.

Its possibly because it was systematic and deliberate. No one set out to kill slaves, they were a valiable commodity.
Also the jewish holocaust is well documented and survivors had personal links to people who died so horribly.
It is rare for a decendant of slavery to be able to know exactly what happened to a whole bunch of their family.
Also, many jewish people are or were powerful and articulate and wanted to world to know and remember what happened.
I think the important thing to retain is not that they were jewish but that human beings could set out to murder so many of their fellow men. It is up to us not to let it happen again.........
but then in Ruanda 1,000000 (a million) people died not so long ago, murdered by their fellow Ruandans from a different tribal background. It happened quite quickly but the world watched and only moved in when the killing was over so how much have we learnt?

the holocaust keeps coming up because so many ingorant people deny it ever happened. When something has actually happened, denied, and has to be proven over, and over and over again to the liberal goons that still want to teach incorrect history. No one denies slavery ever happened. And if you want to know the truth Jews were the first slaves, so quit crying about slavery only happening to blacks. Slaves still exist today in foreign contries....Do you hear them crying for a hand-out. DEAL-WITH-IT....

I disagree that the Holocaust has been given more attention than slavery. (I assume that's what you mean by "backing.") In my 53 years I've seen plenty of documentaries, movies, books, etc. on both issues. Perhaps you need to explore what's available on all of these subjects more. God bless!

I did not own slaves nor did anyone in my family own slaves! Not every black person is a descendant of a slave BTW.
These blacks who cry and whine about slavery make me puke!
Why do you use pathetic excuses to hold yourselves down?
Jews are not outta control 50 plus years later blaming their pathetic life's on the Holocaust! Take responsibility!
Your not oppressed! Stand up and make something of yourself!
I am not to blame nor was my family! I am sick of it!
