It sounds like you may have a build up of dead skin in that area...I would recommend seeing a dermatologist to learn the best method of treatment. It is too easy to scar the skin by trying to correct it yourself at home. Good Luck!

When you clean your neck or any part of your body, the water opens your pours .So when you use lotion and use the tone soap the chemicals in both react like alcohol or worse. It burns you could even develop a rash.I suggest using coco butter, but before you put anything on you that may have chemicals in it ,make sure your skin is completely dry.If you continue to use the tone soap, make sure that you don't scrub your neck to hard.Your neck will become sensitive and you'll get the same reaction you got before. I'm sure your a beautiful young lady no matter what your neck looks like.It will take a little time to see improvement but you will.If this does not work, then yes consult your dermatologist.I believe the darkness comes from as you said not taking care of your body correctly. If can be corrected,so don't panic OK.

Yes, consult a dermatologist. Sometimes this is natural and you can't help it, though. I am a white girl and I have darker spots on my neck and other places, too. I do the same-I am always trying to loofah them and put lotion-I understand. I'm sure it's not as noticeable to anyone else, though. My friends tell me that it isn't.

You can scrub all you want and it will only help a little. What you need is skin bleaching cream. Put it on there every morning and before dinner every evening. There is a buildup of melanin there in your neck...I have it too... it is hereditary. Learn to love it and let your hair grow out. Here is a good product that I use called Vantex: http://www.dillards.com/endeca/EndecaStartServlet?N=1002418 . Best wishes.

You should definitely consult a dermatologist. Tell him/her your problem and be prepared with what he/she might say. Follow the directons and ask questions for help.
Good luck! Dont give up!
ps My friend has the same problem, but she never told me what she did to her neck...

If it really bothers you go to the Dermatologist. Try using a darker foundation to try to blend everything in. Or you could use moisturizers with "light" sunless tanners to even out the rest of your complection.
