At least she doesn't play football right? She's cute, but she's no Anna Kournikova.

Yes, but really not at all. Guys give her way too much attention for all the wrong reasons, making a big deal out of her being a girl, an anomoly in a guy's sport, a babe, she hasn't proven herself, it's only because she's a girl, a flash in the pan, etc., and the media plays on all that. Oh, man, it's a threat to maleness! The end of racing! Ahh!

The real story is that she made it, and that's what people want. IRL viewership is up 40-45%, because of her alone. It isn't because of any guy driver or new develpement in the sport. It's because guys like her, and women like her too. They want to see women and men driving in the sport, not this male macho freak show. So really, she is not getting enough attention for what she is, another driver, and a driver who has come up the ranks and has stayed in the series, not just entered the Indy 500 once or twice. She is the real thing. She is a possible beginning to a sport that is for the whole family to watch. If she makes it big or just stays in it, and she will, because she just signed on for another two years, she'll change the public perception of the sport, and driving, just by being there. That is her significance.

Thank goodness she didn't go to NASCAR, but that would have been a circus, and anyway, she was never going there anyway. NASCAR just leached off of her popularity to hype their own series. That shows you how significant she is.

Yes she does. I understand that she is a girl and everything but big deal she hasn't had any success yet. I understand that she is a girl and all but if you were to have some guy be in the sport with the same stats as her or even better he wouldn't have gotten this much attention. So until she actually proves something then we can all say that Danica Patrick is a decent driver.

For someone that has never one a race. YES.

The thing that get's me is, there are at least 3 other women that are working there way up the ladder for NASCAR. Erin Crocker (sp) And Sarah Fisher. Sarah is a former IRL driver and is signed with RCR (Richard Childress Racing) Erin with Ray Evernham racing. These women are working there way to the top, and little Danica is just getting everything and everything. She has not done anything for the sport except bring more attention to it because of her looks. Well Erin and Sarah are very, very good looking also. I have meet and talked with Sarah when she was here in Indy and I think she is one hell of a woman. I just hope that these women get a shot at it just like little miss Danica, because they will show her and the rest of the world who the better driver is. I am partical to RCR as Richard and his teams are my fav in Nascar, so I can't wait to what Sarah can do, but Erin I think has the best chance to do something right away....that chick has guts and she don't take any crap. Think Tony and Kevin in a HOT WOMANS body!

It's going to be good, lets just hope that Tampons don't sign on for a sponcership...lol

She gets and deserves the same amount of attention that Michelle Wie and Annika Sorenstam get when they compete in men's PGA events. Danica actually finishes her races though and Michelle and Annika rarely make the 'cut.' So I think the attention Danica gets is well deserved.

Yes, she is overrated in my opinion. Yes, she is a girl in a mostly male driven sport, but she hasn't won a race and she isn't really that skilled of a driver. She says that she doesnt want to be treated like a girl just one of the guys, but it seems to me that all she does is say things about being a girl and blah blah blah.. Im all for her being in racing, but just shut up and race. She should not be treated different because she is a girl. When shes in the car she is a driver, but she wants to make a big deal about it. Plus I think her attitude SUCKS!

Danica can drive, but if she were a guy, you would rarely hear about it. You have to be dang good to get people talking about you, or like in her case, be a girl in a mostly guy sport

I think she gets too much attention. I mean, its awesome that she is a woman in a male dominate sport, but first she needs to prove herself worthy of being out there.

Well, can you name anybody else in IRL in their 2nd year that hasn't won a race?

I know I can't.

And chances are, unless you are a hardcore IRL fan, you can't either because until you start winning you ususally don't get any attention. While she gets attention every week even though she hasn't won yet either.

SHe is a female trying to break through the 'glass ceiling'. maybe she gets more attention then is she was a guy, but trust me, she has to work twice as hard to compete in this 'manly' sport as any guy does.

Yes- she bugs me. I used to kind of follow her- but then I saw a magazine ad with her dressed all sexy and show off her stuff and I lost respect for her. I get sick of women who want men and the world to take them seriously and then become sex objects. Men will never take women seriously until we stop running around dressed like flousy's.
