Try using a lot of Clorox/Bleach and just let it soak, if that's possible, for a while. Then try scrubbing it off with some Comet and a really good scrubbing sponge (SOS pads are good)

Good Luck to ya!

It sounds like you have a big moisture problem. If I had to guess, I'd say the caulking bead around the lip of the tub is shot, water is penetrating the tile through cracked grout, and around the tub and shower nozzle.

It is true that bleach can be reasonably effective in killing mold, but if we don't get rid of the moisture, the problem will repeat itself very quickly.

With a scraper, remove the old caulk from around the rim of the tub and anywhere else you see loose and discolored caulking.
Make sure you have plenty of ventilation, then spray everything (tile, tub, floor) down generously with a 50% dilution of bleach, and set a fan in there on high speed until everything appears to be mold-free and dry as a bone.

After careful cleaning and drying, seal the tub rim, tub and shower nozzle, inside corners of the ceramic tile and baseboards with urethane caulk ($4.25 tube at Lowe's or Home Depot)

If possible, see if you can open up a section of drywall from an abutting room to see under the tub. If it has moisture, hit it with bleach and the fan as well.

If the bathroom has a window, make sure it is left open while showering. If not, you need to install a vent fan when funds allow it.

Keep the bathroom surfaces impossibly clean and dry, and hit any mold quickly with a bleach solution. And win the lottery, for goodness sakes, so you can install a new bathroom!

Use bleach and dilute it with water about 1 part bleach and 1 part bleach in other words 1/2 of each. Put it into a spray bottle and spray it all over the mold and mildew. Make sure you have plenty of ventilation and don`t mix anything else with the solution. Let it stand for about 1 hour. Make sure you protect your hands with rubber household gloves then take a scouring pad and scrub it real good then rinse with clear rinse water and a rag. Repeat if necessary. Go over it then with comet and it should come out clean.LOL

You are in for some work! Put bleach in a spray bottle and spray it down, that will kill the mildew, scrub it while it is wet. Get some scrubbing bubbles and spray it on and let it do it's job and then scrub it while wet, get a stiff brush or Scotch pads, the Scotch pads will work better but, you will need some gloves, you can beat it but, it is not going to be fun, once you do it, keep up with it. Big time odor so don't stay with it any longer than you need to!

No matter how many answers you get here it will not help until you do something to STOP the problem.!!! many people think that the vents in newer homes are to take care of the "smell",, when they are really used to remove moisture from the steaming baths and showers!! Put in a vent and fan and this will reduce your problem,, then do all that cleaning!!!you should notice a very signicant reduction of new mold and fungus and less future scrubbing!!!!

Cheap and easy...BLEACH. Buy a generic bleach and a spray bottle, mix bleach 50/50 with warm water. Spray on soiled area, let sit for 2-3 min. then rinse rinse rinse. Beware of strong odor and wear gloves. Be sure to mark bottle as bleach. Do not mix with any other cleansers. (can be toxic in combo with other cleaners)

BLEACH
Pure...
Put it in a spray bottle and spray directly on the stains...Leave it to soak in at least a good ten minutes...(if the stains are not on a flat level...spray and then cover with kitchen towels and leave to soak in.... You can spray more on the towel if you need to).
With the pure bleach, you won't even need to scrub, it removes the stains without it. Just rinse off afterwards 8o avoid bleach stains...bleach will discolour almost anything)
