I mean, they'll still be able to marry; they'll just have to pick someone from their own race. Since marriage isn't about love or anything like that partners are really just interchangeble right?
That's what is sounds like when gay-marriage opponents put up an argument saying that gays have the right to marry someone of the opposite sex.

Yes Ethan, that's what the definition is NOW. But fifty years ago many states had interracial marriage outlawed.

Wow, you people really are as dumb as you sound. When you oppose gay marriage your making the EXACT SAME ARGUMENT that segregationists made in the 1950's. Just replace the words "Black" with "Gay".
1956- "A Black man and a white woman being together just isn't Natural"
2006- "Two men being together just isn't natural"
Same Sentiments, different targets.

Wow, I literally cannot believe that you all thought I was serious. It's SATIRE, and it's written to make a point about an argument against gay marriage. Of course it's ridiculous to bar two people from marrying because of the color of their skin, but at one point in American history is met with as much fervor as the opposition to gay marriage.

Marriage is by definition a union of a man and a woman (of any race).

No, not at all. The problem is the religious right. What people don't understand is that gays do not necessarily want to get into a Christian/religious marriage. They do not want to enter into a union between a man and a woman. They want to enter into a permanent union between two individuals through the government, with things such as tax benefits, insurance benefits, and things that all people should be entitled to. Some people feel what they think is right and wrong is what everyone should follow. They try to force their opinions on others, despite Christianity having that whole thing about not judging others, and letting God judge and such, and the whole shtick with the trying to better yourself, and not being a prick... er... respecting other's wishes even if you dont' agree with them.

"Since marriage isn't about love or anything like that partners are really just interchangeble right?"
What?
Marriage is a lot of things, in a lot of cultures.. of which I value most is that it is a declared commitment to a certain kind of responsibility that aims to care for one another, and in case of kids, provide them with a stable environment and set an example for them to do the same.
And I happen to find responsibility more important than some emotion called love, that most can't seperate from being horny.
Before you can judge right from wrong, you must first define a context.. as the judgement of "right" and "Wrong" only defines how best to achieve a certain goal..
So if you believe the purpose and meaning of life is personal satisfaction only, then gay marriages are right.. if however, you think millions of years of evolution, natural selection, then interracial relationships are quite the opposite of inbreed, and generally produce much healthier (and prettier, by my taste) children.. here "halfblood" generally implies extremely beautiful.
Gay marriages do not serve the species by those rules.. as such there is little reason to assume gay marriages are good.. from a biological, nor social standpoint, since human sexuality and behavior is NOT only genetically defined, but also depends on role-models. Just like baby lions have instincts, but still must learn from their parents how to hunt properly.
By the way, I'm in the Netherlands.. The land of the gay, both in freedom and power, and rights.. but, I can assure you that most people here do not accept them (approval), not tolerate them (silent disapproval).. but simply 'accept' them as an act of indifference (they just don't care), often falsely mistaken for tolerance. It's the consequence of individualism, and as such, it is inevitable for the opposition against gay marriages in the US to cave in slowly but steadily.. because the dogmatic arguments in favor of individualism, pave the way for those rights. Religion is strong there, but hollow and submissive to capitalism, which needs individualism to flourish, and thus will lose against america's other stronger religion: individualism.

Did i offend you? Sorry, too bad for you im not a fake @ss 'politically correct' idiot, so if you wanna debate your pointless ideals against me then mail me.

I've been tempted to ask this same question on this board a few times, however as you have now found out people here could care a less about history and only care about the here and now.
Thanks for having the courage to point out the biggest flaw in their hate filled bigoted argument.

Black marry a white? That is the most asinine question I've seen today!!! If you enter into a loving, trusting partnership either as a man and woman or woman and woman or man and man, as long as they've truly devoted their love and support to each other.... WHO CARES? Define color for us? I think that if cookie monster wants to marry oscar the grouch, fine, if Bert and Earnie want to FINALLY tie the knot, GREAT. We're all entitled to an opinion and a free voice in this Great nation of ours, lets remember to not enfringe on our neighbor's right, freedom of choice.

If you are not a Christian then my post won't matter.....but the Bible forbids homosexuality relationships (Romans 1:26-27 OR 1st Corinthians 5:9-10). However, no where does it say that we must marry people of the same color.

Society is in constant change. Gay unions will be acceptable in half a decade too (I can't say the same about marriage). That is just the way things are.
Everyone is a hypocrite.
