i like the way how people who live in manhattan dress -- they are so stylish. my question is -- where do they get those ideas from? what magazines? i read like a gazillion magazines every month but somehow i don't see those styles in the magazines. im also a new yorker, but in the suburbs so we're more like preppy. any city girls here? any suggestions? i know it's the "in" thing because i see the pattern or the uniformity of the styles. it's not something put together -- but rather something that was suggested.

do you know any good magazines that are way advanced when it comes to fashion?

stylish dressing is a learned skill
research is the key
study other peoples outfits, talks to sales associates about clothing at higher end stores
go to www.style.com, and www.shopbop.com
when you are reading fashion magazines, look at colors, accessories etc..... as well as the clothing itself
make friends with stylish people and learn from them, go shopping with them
immerse yourself in fashion for a while and you will pick stuff up until stylish dressing becomes natural

Well, Vogue is considered the fashion bible, but I would say the bigger influence is just seeing other people on the street and picking up ideas from them...you can only see so many outfits each month in magazines!

Oh yes i love NYC, ill be moving there very soon hopefully. Id try Teen Vogue for magazine inspiration. but you might want to just make a little fashion trip for yourself down there to see what its like. barneys is a fantastic store. go to 5th avenue and look at the shops on that street.

The clearance aspects of style-smart shops like Bealls or Kohls or despite extreme high quality shops you reside by using. The clearance section in many cases has stuff it particularly is robust for somebody petite (i understand, i'm short). once you're having hassle looking pants that throughout the time of high quality condition suitable then forget the pants, skirts are continuously solid for a petite physique, and that i choose longer skirts. i do no longer think of mini skirts flatter short legs in any respect.
