Because politicians can't live without their expensive french imports, so they tried to act pissed by changing the name of a food that doesn't really have anything to do with the french to begin with. Something only the political mind could think up.

because our freedom is more meaningful than commercializing it with something like fries. people die everyday for the concept of freedom (whatever their definition of it might be) and to reduce it to a trivial adjective that means nothing would be tremendously disrespectful.
fries make me think of somebody slaving away at some crappy restaurant, making no money, and stressed out about life and trying to get by. there's no freedom in that.
another big part of it is that when you get used to calling something one name, you can't easily just change it. it'd be like changing hamburger to cowburger. It's just never going to happen.

French fries is too common a term...many people resist change and even if they agreed with the concept, old habits die hard...

because it was childish and stupid. if America, and by that i mean conservative republicans, since no one else counts to bush,if we're so concerned why didn't they dismantle the statue of liberty, she is after all french. its a war of rhetoric designed to keep us from seeing all the horror they've unleashed onto the world and the freedoms that are eroding as we chat. it's the same reason people are more worried about gay marriage than us being named one of the worst human rights violaters of the past few years by amnesty international.

Because they have always been called french fries...it is so immature to change the name just because we were mad at France.
