Yup...I'm disgusted as well. I'm not sure how they worked this one, but I'm horrified. I know they used the "Post Pregnancy Depression" defense. Five deaths by drowning and she gets this.....sad.

I disagree with all of you. I wasn't on the jury and I did not see the evidence that was presented by the prosecution or the defense so who am I to judge whether or not she is sane. I'm not one of the psychiatrists that evaluated her, so I cannot say whether or not she is insane.
The woman did have a history of mental illness and had been admitted to a mental institution prior to this incident.
Post partum depression is real and is recognized by all the major psychiatric associations and textbooks.
I hope this case will aid in widespread knowledge about this condition so that it can be treated appropriately and unfortunate events like these can be avoided.

It's not like she's getting set free. She will be confined to a mental hospital until deemed safe to the public. Dunno how long that'll be. I do think she was mentally ill, but I don't know if she fits the criteria to be judged not guilty for it. After all, she waited for her husband to leave and did several other actions that lean towards her knowing, at the least, that it was wrong.

Thanks to the Doctor that lied the first time around and prompted her getting a new trial. Obviously, the jury had it right the first time. It's a SAD, SAD day in Houston. Not to mention that Mrs. Yates can get out of that mental institution at any time..........

Oh please~ Yes she was wrong! They have psych. wards in prisons. But what everyone fails to see is her husbands role in this tragedy! He was a controlling freak! He kept breeding her like a prized heifer! She showed signs of a breakdown what did he do? Leave her all alone w/ 5 kids and make her read religious paraphernalia!

i dont think she should get off that easy. she admitted she knew it was wrong. she said that stabbing them was to messy, shooting them was to loud, but that drowning them was ok. i think she should go to prison for the rest of her life and stop playing on the insanity

No you are not and think that woman is crazy. On the news they said she may not even get counseling. Very little if she gets any at all. it's sickening.
